My husband of, eventually, 46 years slid into dementia slower and less dramatically than Lewy's Body version. But the challenges are the same. Lewy's Body is faster and dirtier; the issue with Alzheimer's, I think, is that it is not diagnosed until well in play, so eons of confusion and misunderstanding. And it's a slow boat to ... oblivion. My husband died of causes other than dementia, for which I give thanks pretty much daily.
Yes, you're right on all counts. I've never heard LBD described as being the "dirtier" of the cognitive diseases, but that's exactly what it is. Thanks for your comment and your commiseration.
